I scream for Ice Cream! *Giveaway*

This time of year, in SoCal it’s hot outside and for those visiting Disneyland I know the struggle to stay cool, well lucky for you I’ve taken it upon myself to try different kinds of ice cream at Disneyland 😉 (I know, I know I’m a saint) and these are just a few of my favorites

One of my favorite treats is the Dole whip float. I know you’ve heard how yummy a Dole Whip is but let me remind you. It’s so yummy and refreshing!! I’m sure you’ve walked by the line and thought it was way too long to wait for a dole whip but if you go inside where you wait for the Enchanted Tiki Room the line is way shorter (usually)

A trip to Disneyland Resort wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Ghirardelli! They have so many different flavors to choose from and always offer you a free sample when you walk in. Can’t say no to a delicious free sample! This flavor is black cherry in a chocolate dipped waffle cone, my mouth is watering!

Next, Ice cream nachos! This is an “off the menu” item. They are found inside Disneyland at the Golden Horseshoe. Did you know Ice Cream Nachos was originally on the menu at the Golden Horseshoe? It was removed from the menu several years ago. It is made with waffle cone “chips” topped with three scoops of your choice of ice cream, topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and chocolate chips with a cherry on top. When I ordered them, they didn’t even hesitate and a few people in front of me ordered it too. So, don’t hesitate to try it next time!

Finally, is Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream inside Disney’s California Adventure. They have this amazing ice cream sundae served in a “Kitchen Sink”. They have so many different combinations of flavors all served in a kitchen sink. One of my favorite flavors is called The Oswald Sundae it’s one scoop of Vanilla and one scoop Chocolate Ice Cream with Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream, Chocolate Chips, Cherry, and a Chocolate Dipped Banana and you get to take the sink home! I currently use mine to hold my sponges and soap by my kitchen sink. For one lucky reader, I’ll be giving away a kitchen sink!! (sorry ice cream not included) Check out my social media pages for entry details!

Churro Explosion!

Have you heard about the new and exciting churros flavors at Disneyland? Well this past week my husband and I tried some, for better or for worse. I’ll be rating them from best to worst and I mean worst.

S’mores Churro

I’m a sucker for s’mores! The delicious marshmallowly chocolatie goodness! This churro is coated in gram crackers and you dip the churro in melted marshmallow and melted chocolate. Is your mouth watering? Mine is!

Galactic Churro

It tasted like a regular churro so it was yummy! It did look way to pretty to eat though I mean come on look at those pretty edible stars!

Sour Watermelon Churro

Was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted in my life but if you are adventurous please try it for yourself. It’s supposedly a limited time only flavor, it’s to celebrate the return of Fantasmic. So taste it before it’s gone!

Happily Ever After Pt 2 – Planning

Other then the Disney planning my other favorite part of my wedding planning process was the dress shopping and make up!!

Wedding Dress Shopping:

I went to David’s Bridal twice before I decided on a dress. Below are a few I tried on. I pretty much knew exactly what I wanted which was a big ol’ ball gown but I was open to suggestions and I wasn’t afraid to fall in love with something else. In the end I did choose a ball gown and the bigger it was the better! I told the sales lady that I want the skirt so big I want to barely fit through the door.

Hair and make up trial:

My hair and make up trial was interesting because the day after my wedding we had a photo shoot inside Disneyland before it opened. So I had to be in the Disneyland Hotel lobby at 5:40 am. I couldn’t ask/afford my hair and make up to be redone again that morning so I decided to sleep in my make up and hair! So with the trial I was able to see how my hair and make up would hold up and what I needed to do if anything.

My mother was recommend a florist through her hair dresser and he was located in the flower disctrict of Downtown Los Angeles. His store was stunning, immediately I knew that this was the perfect person to do my flowers. It was very modern and glam. Below are some original mock ups of our flowers for the wedding. He was incredibly reasonable in price and never once hesitated when I wanted to tweak something.

Finishing touches:

I’m very fortunate that my mother in law and maid of honor have a Silhouette and Circuit and helped me a lot with DIY project! Pictured below are what they did.

This was out Guest Book. Inside the frame one heart map represented where we met and the other heart map is where we are getting married. The little red hearts are where people wrote well wishes

Instead of advice cards I opted to print (free) mad lib adive cards and the mail box was inspired by the movie Up and guests put their mad libs inside there, At the end of the day when we were sitting in our hotel room alone the mad libs were so fun to read

Happily Ever After Pt 1- Planning

One year ago, I said I do to the man of my dreams at the Happiest Place on Earth! It was truly a dream come true and something I’ve thought about since I was a little girl. We started to plan our wedding two and a half years prior to the date and about one year into the planning process our daughter was diagnosed with Autism. At that moment, our world stopped turning. When you hear that you think the worst possible things so we devoted all out time and money into getting her therapy and put the wedding on hold. Disney was beyond accommodating and understanding. They let me know that when we are ready they will be there.

Once we were ready about 6 months prior is when all the fun started to happen. We had a planning session that lasted about two hours. We went over everything from colors, the feel and so much more. Disney makes things very easy and prior to the planning session they gave me a booklet to fill out that had a ton of options like menu choice, extras like if we wanted characters or an open bar, so many choices!! I was told to bring:

  • Swatches that represent your desired wedding colors (this is really helpful for the floral and décor team as well as the bakery if you chose to use those colors on your cake)
  • Pictures (wedding attire, bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony décor, reception décor, favors, cake design, etc.)
  • Questions (make a list as ideas and questions pop in your head!)
  • Excitement!!

Those couple of hours went by so fast. We saw a ton of pictures of example wedding cakes, for me the design of the cake was so hard. I had a lot of wedding cakes pinned to my Pinterest board (which you can still see) Eventually we found a cake design that we tweaked to make our own. Next on the agenda was floral. Disney allows you to use an outside florist but for certain things you must use Disney. Example, we chose to get married at the Rose Court Garden which has a beautiful outdoor gazebo and Disney floral are the only ones that can add décor to the gazebo also there is a clean- up fee at the Rose Court Garden for things like flower pedals or confetti. I really wanted to have rose pedals tossed as we walked down the aisle so we decided to go through Disney to decorate the gazebo and create toss rose pedals. Those were the only two things that we used Disney Floral for.

Next, we chose the menu, in the planning pages Disney gave us a lot of options and we asked the typical questions like gluten free options and vegetarian options. We dreamed big and as we originally wanted steak and lobster but to cut costs and add other important things like an open bar and reception décor we went with chicken (the chicken was the best) We did have one hick up at the time, the bakery did not have my cake flavors so they only had two slices for us to try, normally they give you 4. I was obviously super disappointed because the planning session was during the week and my husband and I had to take the day off from work so it wasn’t easy make it but as Disney does they used their pixie dust and made us 4 full size cakes for us to try. So in a week or so we came back to pick up the cakes (shown in pictures). I had a great time at the planning session it really sets the tone for the rest of the planning. My planner was amazing, she always returned my emails promptly and made time for our phone calls. On the day of the wedding when I saw our planner I cried, seeing her made it seem real, like that was it.

The photo’s I attached were from our planning sessions and food tasting.

Funnel Cakes Galor!

One of my foodie guilty pleasure is funnel cake! I’m a sucker for funnel cake, I love them with strawberries, powdered sugar or boysenberry jam. Did you know that Disneyland has delicious funnel cake? Located at The Hungry Bear restaurant near Splash Mountain is where they are hidden. They have seasonal funnel cake flavors and right now they have peach cobbler and churro! So delicious! I highly recommend trying them when you’re there next!! One of the best parts of the funnel cake is the whip cream! It’s not overly sweet and they’re definitely generous with their portions. Best part is your annual pass discount applies! Have you tried them yet?

5. Princess Dot’s Puddle Park- Located inside It’s a Bugs life in California Adventure

My Daughter loves the puddle park, it’s a great place for her to cool down and run around. Water squirts up from the ground in random places.

One of the best parts of the puddle park is the two convenient changing rooms/ family bathrooms. You take take your family in there to dry off and use the potty.
